4. Actors, institutions, networks: socio-cultural conditions of artistic activity

This theme federates historians of medieval, modern and contemporary art, invested in research fields from social and cultural Art history. The research programs concern actors and intermediaries in the artistic sphere. In this context, the artist is understood as a creative individuality and actor, whose anchoring in a group (or its rejection) can explain the identity.
The circumstances of production of the work, its distribution and its reception are privileged in all fields that affect the creative act: cultural, economic, political and religious. It is also examining the relevance of legitimation of the image, elaborated or undergone by the artist.
