Application form visiting researchers

For many years, the Centre André-Chastel has welcomed visiting researchers of international renown to develop and carry out a research project.

To apply for 2024

  • Colleagues wishing to be welcomed as visiting researchers by one or more permanent members may apply in the field of art history and theory, as well as in the disciplinary branches represented in the Centre André-Chastel.
  • Invitations are granted on an individual basis, for a period from four up to six weeks. To apply, researchers (established or post-doctoral) should complete the form below, together with the application form, a detailed research project and a CV. 
  • The project - in French or English (maximum 1000 words) - must specify the themes and nature of the research to be carried out in institutions in Paris and/or France, as well as the reasons for the request to be hosted at the Centre André-Chastel. It should also indicate the collaboration with the permanent members of the CAC, and the form this collaboration will take.
  • Applications are to be sent to the Centre André-Chastel management and will be examined by the Unit Council.

Practical information and conditions of stay

  • Visiting researchers will be allocated an office.
  •  They will be eligible for assistance from the Centre André-Chastel of up to €1,000 (travel or accommodation expenses).
  •  The Centre André-Chastel will not cover any other type of expenses related to the research visit.
  • During his/her stay at the Centre André-Chastel, the visiting researcher will be expected to collaborate with the permanent members (participation in seminars and/or events organised by the Centre André-Chastel, such as “Rencontres du Centre André-Chastel) and “Regards croisés”) .
